Ford Flex
Ford Flex
The Ford Flex is a full-size crossover manufactured by Ford. Its styling is based on the Ford Fairlane concept unveiled at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The production vehicle made its debut at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. Sales of the Flex began in summer of 2008 as a 2009 model. The Flex is produced on the same assembly line as the Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers at the Oakville Assembly Plant in Oakville, Ontario, where the first Flex was driven off the line at the beginning of June 2008.
Ford Flex is the ultimate full-sized crossover vehicle for a family’s day out. This car actually does not fit into any category and does not seem to be the best at any one feature and yet, it manages to charm. It is not the biggest or the best looking, but it has what it takes to fit the bill as a family vehicle. There are plenty of Crossover vehicles being introduced everyday, so competition can never be eliminated. But the 2009 ford Flex is a fighter, and has its own loyal fans. Good performance, fuel economy, plenty of room and convenience makes this crossover vehicle and ideal family car.
Forget other minivans and low-cost SUVs; this car is a nice thoughtfully designed crossover that is tough on the road yet is high on comfort. There are 5 different trims in front wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), namely SE FWD, SEL FWD, SEL AWD, Limited FWD and Limited AWD. The 3.5 Liter V6 engines offer 262 hp on the road, which is quite sufficient for regular commuting as well as the occasional outing. The car seats 7 passengers comfortably and can tow about 4,500-lb with ease. As for acceleration, the AWD goes from 0 to 60 in 8.8 seconds. 6-speed automatic transmission is standard for all trims. Fuel economy is quite respectable.
The 2009 Ford flex is laden with top class features, like the Multi-Panel Vista Roof, capless fueling, interior refrigerator, SYNC communication interface, large cargo area and plus materials for the interiors. This is one of the best interior designs we’ve seen in ages, and the options add to the pleasure. The turning radius could’ve been lighter with a better telescoping steering wheel and he cargo hold is not as big as a few other minivans. But the excellent styling and the decent performance are praise-worthy.
The car looks good and is safe too, with a range of safety features including 4-wheel disk brakes with ABS, tire pressure monitoring system, 6 airbags, and stability control. The Ford Flex scores a full 5 on 5 in the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test. You could always go for options like rear seat DVD, towing package, touchscreen navigation system and much more. But with the already available luxurious features, we doubt you would ever complain. This innovatively styled 2009 crossover from Ford could be yours at an MSRP of $28,295 to $36,555.
