Ford Five Hundred
Ford Five Hundred
The 2009 Ford Five Hundred is a successor to the original Taurus model. The four-door “modern American sedan” comes with both the front-wheel and the all-wheel drive options. Like all the Ford cars, the 2009 Ford Five Hundred provides a “comfortable ride with due importance to safety and fuel efficiency”, according to reviewers. “The Ford Five Hundred is a full size sedan, offering ample space for five passengers, plenty of legroom, and more than adequate trunk capacity”, add reviewers about this latest Ford entrant.
The Ford Five Hundred is available in SE, SEL and Limited models and eight impressive colors. The latest models are powered by a 3.0-liter V6 Duratec 30 engine which generates 203 horsepower. What makes the new Ford Five Hundred models special is the 6-speed automatic facility that enables the car to achieve great mileage – 21 mpg on the city roads and 29 mpg on highways.
The standard safety features include four-wheel ABS, four disc brakes including two ventilated discs, strut front suspension independent with stabilizer bar, side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags with rollover protection, reverse sensing system and traction control. The body structure and the safety technology of the Ford Five Hundred have been developed by Volvo. Other standard features like power driver’s seat, ergonomically sound dash board, cruise control, floor mats, tile steering keyless entry, air conditioning, power mirrors, power windows, power door locks make driving Ford Five Hundred a pleasure either in crowded cities or on highways.
With its 112.9 inch wheelbase and an impressive passenger cabin space, the Five Hundred stands out among the sedans of its class like the Buick LaCrosse, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu or Chrysler 300. While the SE comes with standard fittings, the SEL trim has some additional fixtures like cloth upholstery, 17 inch wheels, heated exterior mirrors, message center, self-dimming rearview mirror, fog lights, chrome exterior bits, in-dash CD changer and outside temperature display. The Limited model includes leather upholstery, larger wheels, power adjustable seat and upgraded stereo system, besides other standard fittings.
The 2009 Ford Five Hundred was created basically to cater to the needs of families worried about sky-rocketing fuel prices. Excellent safety ratings on all tests, large and comfortable seats, roomy interiors, upgraded stereo and other fittings and great savings on fuel usage makes the 2009 Ford Five Hundred one of the good picks in a world recession scenario.
