Ford Crown Victoria

The Ford Crown Victoria is a rear-wheel drive full-size car first produced by the Ford Motor Company for the North American market in the mid-1950s. Its current incarnation has been in production since 1992 at Ford’s St. Thomas Assembly plant. It, and its Mercury and Lincoln stablemates, are the only full-frame rear-wheel-drive passenger cars built in North America. As of 2008 it is only available for fleet sales.

The legendary house of Ford has unveiled its latest offering, the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria. From the very first Crown Victoria in 1955 to the present 2009 Ford Crown Victoria, there have been significant changes. The 2009 model is the latest in the second generation Crown Victoria cars. 2008 onwards, the Crown Victoria is available only through Ford Fleet. After stating that Ford would ‘freshen’ the 2009 model, the company went ahead and released the 2009 Crown Victoria without any major innovations.

There is no denying, however, that the current 2009 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor packs in a good performance on the road, as expected. The 2009 model is definitely one tough set of wheels. With a seating capacity of 6 adult occupants, the Crown Victoria cruises comfortably through city roads and highways. The powerful 4.6 Liter SOHC (single overhead cam) SEFI (sequential electronic fuel injection) V-8 engine is the secret behind the assured performance of the car.

The body-on-frame design makes for a classic good-looking car. The two 2009 models in this series are the Crown Victoria LX and Crown Victoria LX Sport. The rear wheel driven 2009 Crown Victoria pumps out about 272 pounds of torque. These two cars come with electronically managed, competent automatic transmission overdrive. But the LX Sport offers the highest output among the lot. All 2009 models have EEC-V engine control.

The best thing about the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria is the inviting interiors. The 107.5 cu. ft. interior room with 8-way power driver seat is impressive enough to make one forget about compact cars. The LX has 3-occupant split seats in luxury material, with the option of leather seating. Meanwhile, the LX Sport comes with individual leather trim seats. The classic features include Electronic Automatic Temperature Control for air-conditioning, speed-sensitive steering, tune-up interval of 100,000 miles and cruise control. Optional additions could include Dual Media Premium Electronic AM/FM stereo, rear seat reading lamps and All-Speed Traction Control among others.

There are standard safety features, of course. In addition to the standard airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, SecuriLock® Passive Anti-Theft System, Belt-Minder®, child safety locks and ABS, the cars also have Personal Safety System®, Smartlock and side entry intrusion beams.

Apart from the plush interiors, customers would appreciate the handling in the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria. The 2009 ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is quite smooth and speedy on all roads, classifying it as a sure success material.
