Cadillac DeVille

DeVille (also De Ville and de Ville) was originally a trim level and later a model of General Motors’ Cadillac marque. The first car to bear the name was the 1949 Coupe de Ville, a prestige trim level of the Series 62 luxury coupe. The last model to be formally known as a DeVille was the 2005 Cadillac DeVille, a full-size sedan, the largest car in the Cadillac model range at the time. The next year, the DeVille was officially renamed DTS (an acronym standing for DeVille Touring Sedan, itself a trim level on earlier models).

The 2000 model year saw the first major redesign since 1994 and the introduction of the last generation of the Deville. The exterior was completely redesigned featuring a sportier, elegant and more aerodynamic design. The revamped interior featured completely new door panels and seats, while the dashboard and radio face only received minor facelifts. 2000 DeVilles also featured the first production LED tail lamps in automobiles, a feature now becoming increasingly commonplace on luxury and family cars. The d’Elegance designation was replaced with the Deville DHS (Deville High Luxury), which added several cabin comfort options to include power rear window sunshade and heated/massaging rear seats. The performance enthusiast’s Deville, the Deville Concours was renamed the Deville DTS (Deville Touring Sedan) and was available with stability control, active suspension, onboard navigation and magnetic variable assist steering. Coefficient of drag:0.30.

This final version of the DeVille lasted through the redesign of 2000 and ended production in 2005. It was replaced by the restyled and renamed DTS (stands for DeVille Touring Sedan) for 2006. This model was the first vehicle to use all LED tail lamps and night vision.

Cadillac Seville

The Cadillac Seville is a luxury car that was manufactured by the Cadillac division of American automaker General Motors as a limited production specialty model in the 1950s and 60s. It was traditionally second in the Cadillac lineup after the top of the line Eldorado, and more focused on technology than the sales-leader Deville. Reintroduced as a regular production vehicle from 1975 to 2004, the Seville was a smaller format top of the line Cadillac.

The Seville was updated for 1998 on a new version of the K-body platform based on Oldsmobile’s G-body Aurora. The wheelbase was up to 112.2 in (2,850 mm) but the overall length was down a bit to 201 in (5,100 mm). The car looked similar to the fourth-generation model, but was considered a leap forward and featured numerous suspension and drivability improvements. The Seville STS (and companion Eldorado ETC) became the most powerful front wheel drive cars on the market at 300 hp (224 kW). The fully-loaded STS model delivered at an MSRP of $52,075.

The fifth generation Seville was the first Cadillac engineered to be built in both left and right-hand-drive form; and became the first modern Cadillac to be officially imported and sold in South Africa along with other right-hand-drive markets such as the Japan and the United Kingdom. In the past, right-hand-drive Cadillacs were built from CKD kits or special conversion kits shipped to other countries for local conversion.

For 2003 its final year, Seville received a new MagneRide adaptive suspension system. Production of the Seville STS ended on May 16, 2003. The Seville SLS ended on December 5, 2003. After the Seville was discontinued for 2004, it was replaced by the rear wheel drive Cadillac STS. All transverse engine front-wheel drive Sevilles were built in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Cadillac Escalade

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) sold by the General Motors luxury brand, Cadillac. It was the division’s first major entry into the popular SUV market. The Escalade was introduced for the 1999 model year in response to German and Japanese competitors and to Ford’s 1998 release of the Lincoln Navigator. The Escalade project went into production only ten months after it was approved. The standard Escalade is built in Arlington, Texas. The name Escalade refers to a siege warfare tactic of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers.

The Escalade was originally based on the GMC Yukon Denali, but was redesigned for the 2002 model year to make its appearance fall more in line with Cadillac’s new design theme. Today, the Escalade and Escalade EXT pickup are two of only three Cadillac vehicles made outside of the United States. Both the Escalade ESV (Based on the Chevrolet Suburban) and Escalade EXT (based on the Avalanche pickup truck) were made in Silao, Mexico before the 2006 redesign; the new Escalade ESV is sourced from Arlington, Texas. The Escalade competes with the Range Rover Sport, Infiniti QX56, Hummer H2, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class,Lexus LX,Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover LR3 and Lincoln Navigator.

Cadillac SRX

The Cadillac SRX is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by the Cadillac division of American automaker General Motors since the 2004 model year.

Engine options include the 255 hp (190 kW) High-Feature V6 and the 4.6 L 320 hp (239 kW) Northstar V8. It is based on the GM Sigma platform and comes with a five or six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available.

An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags are standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim are standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat are all available options.

The base price is US$ 38,880 for the V6 and US$ 45,880 for the V8 version. The SRX won Car and Driver’s Five Best Trucks “luxury SUV” award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.

As of 2006, there will be no V-Series SRX-V, and the vehicle will not be replaced before 2008, though the interior will be upgraded with more luxurious materials and trim for the 2007 model year. A Sport model, also launched for 2007, will be an appearance package with larger wheels and less chrome. The first generation SRX will be available through the 2009 model year.

Cadillac XLR

The XLR is a retractable hardtop convertible marketed by the Cadillac division of General Motors, assembled in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Intended to be Cadillac’s flagship sports car, the XLR was based on the Chevrolet Corvette’s Y platform. The XLR featured own its unique styling, interior, and suspension, and power-retractable aluminum hardtop, along with the Cadillac Northstar engine.

Cadillac introduced the XLR at the 2003 Detroit Motor Show and began production in the 2004 model year — forshadowed by the Evoq concept vehicle.

The XLR features as standard equipment heated and cooled leather seats, wood interior trim, remote keyless access, 18 inch alloy wheels, side airbags as well as a navigation, audio, and DVD system sharing a 7-inch dashboard screen. The retractable hardtop itself is constructed of aluminum (i.e.,lightweight), requires 6′-10½” of vertical clearance during retraction, and is manufactured by a supplier joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

The engine is Cadillac’s 4.6 L Northstar tuned for 320 hp (238.6 kW; 324.4 PS), mated as of the 2007 model year to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The XLR is the second roadster offered by Cadillac in recent years. The first was the Cadillac Allanté, produced from 1987 to 1993. The XLR was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award for 2004.

Cadillac STS

The STS (Seville Touring Sedan) is a mid-size luxury sports sedan / executive car sold by manufactured and sold by Cadillac. SLS (Seville Luxury Sedan) luxury sedan variation of the STS. It is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with performance algorithm shifting and driver shift control.

The STS is the successor to the Cadillac Seville. That car used the STS name, standing for Seville Touring Sedan on upscale performance-oriented versions beginning in 1988. In 1992, Cadillac split the Seville line into STS and less performance-oriented SLS (for Seville Luxury Sedan) trim lines. The next year, the STS got Cadillac’s then-new Northstar System, including the aluminium DOHC L37 Northstar V8 engine. Throughout its existence, the STS was Cadillac’s highest-priced sedan. Worldwide, the STS is Cadillac’s flagship model. In the United States and Canada, the STS is positioned between the mid-size CTS and larger DTS, and is priced above the latter.

Cadillac DTS

The Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) is a full-size luxury sedan from the Cadillac luxury division of General Motors. The DTS replaces the Cadillac DeVille as that carmaker’s largest luxury car for MY 2006, following the naming and styling direction set by the earlier CTS and STS. The Deville d’Elegance designation was replaced with the Cadillac DHS (Deville High-Luxury Sedan), which added several cabin comfort options to include power rear window sunshade and heated/massaging rear seats.

The design of the DTS was introduced in a unique way. A specially designed and outfitted presidential DTS limousine was used in the second inauguration of George W. Bush in the January 20, 2005 parade. While details of the vehicle, codenamed Stagecoach, are highly classified, it is presumed to be heavily armored and feature advanced communication equipment. The production DTS was shown at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show on February 9.

The DTS is manufactured at GM’s Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly factory in Hamtramck, Michigan. The Luxury models are priced at US$41,990, while the Performance version is priced at US$50,490. The DTS is the best-selling full-size luxury car in North America. One major feature change from the Deville to the DTS was the elimination of the standard 6-passenger seating configuration for non-limousine models. However, such capability remains an optional feature.

The Cadillac DTS is the largest sedan that General Motors offers. The DTS incorporates the K-platform as denoted by the 4th letter in the VIN, and is powered by the 32V Northstar V8, which produces 275 bhp (205 kW) in luxury trim. The DTS Performance Package horsepower increases this to 292 bhp (218 kW). The DTS has standard features such as six airbags, Xenon high power headlamps, leather seating, and power seats. Options include navigation system, Magnetic Ride Control (magnetic ride control on performance models only), moonroof, chrome wheels, heated/cooled seats even a heated steering wheel is an option. A fully loaded DTS will top out at around $55,000(US) depending on your color choice and exact options. A new DTS Platinum Edition will be released sometime in mid to late 2007 with special interior trim, badging and other luxury features. No information has yet been confirmed on the engine performance. Many people believe the L37 engine will be put in, this also is not confirmed. Also the DTS-L was released with much improved rear legroom[1] and a longer rear C-pillar reminiscent of the older Fleetwood 75 Series. Stabli-track remains standard on all but the base trim to help handling and with 3 choice of leather seating surfaces the DTS brings a new level of luxury to the Cadillac marque.

Cadillac CTS

The Cadillac CTS is a mid-size luxury sports sedan and executive car manufactured by the Cadillac marque of General Motors. It was introduced in 2002 as the replacement for the unpopular Cadillac Catera. The release of the CTS is credited with reinvigorating the Cadillac brand. The car’s exterior was designed by Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko, and marked the production debut of the stealth aircraft-inspired “Art and Science” design language, which was first seen on the Evoq concept car. During the 1990s, Cadillac had attempted to capture a younger demographic with cars such as the Catera and Allanté, but the company did not achieve success until the introduction of the CTS. As part of its marketing campaign, the sedan was featured prominently in an action film, and enjoyed a stellar reception from the motoring press, who have granted the car numerous awards and accolades over its lifetime.
